Having overcome Egypt in the play-offs to reach the 2010 World Cup Finals, Algeria will have to face England, USA and Slovenia in Group C.

Frankly, they are unlikely to get further than this. When your best known players are Nadir Belhadj and Madjid Bougherra, you’re unlikely to have a squad that can compete.

Unfortunately for them, Algeria just don’t have the quality to defeat teams like England or the USA. Their two top goalscorers are out of contract with their club sides mainly because, well, they aren’t capable of scoring goals at the top level.

While there is some talent in the squad, it isn’t of sufficient quality. Nadir Belhadj looks great going forward for Portsmouth, but he leaves too many gaps in behind. Imagine what Aaron Lennon will do to him when Algeria face England.
