van Marwijk has said that he won’t make any changes from the side that won their opening two matches. However, key players like Nigel De Jong and Robin van Persie are both one booking away from suspension, so it’s doubtful the Netherlands coach will want to risk them in a match of no significance.

If van Marwijk is true to his word, however, this will mean no place for winger Arjen Robben, who is now almost fully fit after a hamstring injury kept him out of the first two games.

Cameroon coach may bring back Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni to his starting line-up in place of Hamido. Also in contention are veteran Rigobert Song, striker Eric Choupo-Moting and midfielder Joel Matip.

Choupo-Moting looks the most likely of the three to start and he will partner Inter striker Samuel Eto’o in attack.

Lots of English journalists, in particular, look to the Ivory Coast and Ghana as the African teams most likely to do well at World Cup 2010. However, the facts are these: Cameroon, despite a fairly poor African Cup of Nations, are  – Egpyt aside – the highest rated African team in the FIFA rankings.

They find themselves in a group from which they should qualify – with Denmark, Japan and the Netherlands as their rivals to reach the second round.

While the Dutch are a strong squad, the Danish squad is full of ageing players, many of whom (Dennis Rommedahl,  Jesper Gronkjaer, Jon Dahl Tomasson) have never really proven themselves at international level.

To my mind, with the likes of Samuel Eto’o upfront, Carlos Kameni in goal and Arsenal’s Alex Song in midfield, Cameroon have enough to qualify from Group E. How far they go after that is, frankly, anybody’s guess.

GROUP B: TO QUALIFY

Group B consists of Argentina, Greece, South Korea and Nigeria. Ordinarily you would expect Argentina to win the group but it’s hard to separate the other three sides.

However, with Diego Maradona in charge of Argentina, anything could happen. I can see a shock result or two in this group. I’m going to go for a team that knows what it takes to win a major trophy and that’s Greece.

They were OK in qualifying, although a surprise draw with Moldova cost them a place as group winners, but showed true grit in overcoming Ukraine in the play-offs. They are well organised and defensively solid and I take Greece to Qualify at 2.30 with Expekt.

GROUP E: QUALIFYING BETTNG TIPS

Group E has Netherlands, Denmark, Cameroon and Japan. After Cameroon’s poor showing at AFCON 2010, you would be inclined to suggest that the Dutch and Denmark will qualify.

However, Cameroon have two truly world class players – Samuel Eto’o and ‘keeper Carlos Kameni – and a bunch of very good ones. Denmark really don’t have the same quality.
