Argentina coach Diego Maradona may opt to rest a few key players for this match with a mis-firing Greece side.

Argentina may choose to freshen up their team ahead of this match with Otto Rehhagel’s Greece side.

Defender Walter Samuel has returned from a thigh strain, but may not be risked. Also likely to be rested are left back Gabriel Heinze and midfielder Javier Mascherano, both of whom are one yellow card away from suspension.

Definitely out for Diego Maradona’s side is Jonas Gutierrez, who is suspended.

Strikers Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain may also be rested, with Diego Milito and Sergio Aguero taking their places upfront.

Greece coach Otto Rehhagel is unlikely to change the starting XI that beat Nigeria last time out. This means another start for Dimitrios Salpingidis who will partner Theofanis Gekas in attack.

Centre back Sotirios Kyrgiakos is set to return for Greece, while winger Peter Odemwingie could start for Nigeria.

Odemwingie came on as a substitute in the match against Argentina and performed well and is set to replace Haruna in midfield.

Left back Taye Taiwo, who sustained an minor injury in Nigeria’s opener against Argentina, is expected to be fit enough to start for Lars Lagerback’s side.

Lagerback is unlikely to make any further changes from the side that started against Argentina.

Greece manager Otto Rehhagel will bring Kyrgiakos into central defence after a poor showing in the opening game against South Korea. The Liverpool defender will replace Papadopoulos.

Elsewhere, Rehhagel is likely to give his underperforming players a second chance, with Karagounis again skippering the side despite his early substitution in the opening match.

The 2010 World Cup Finals – like it’s predecessors – will have a few shocks at the Group stages. After all, who would have expected Senegal to qualify at the expense of France at World Cup 2002 or Ghana to qualify instead of the Czech Republic at the 2006 Finals.

GROUP BETTING PICKS FOR WC 2010

The trick, of course, is to predict where the upsets are going to occur and bet big on the underdogs that may qualify – from the group stages.

Best Bets on World Cup Group Qualification

The following bookmakers and sportsbooks are offering odds on teams to qualify from the Group stages of the World Cup.

Bet24 : Up to €35 Bet Bonus
Some generous World Cup odds and €35 bonus cash available for all new customers.

GROUP B: TO QUALIFY

Group B consists of Argentina, Greece, South Korea and Nigeria. Ordinarily you would expect Argentina to win the group but it’s hard to separate the other three sides.

However, with Diego Maradona in charge of Argentina, anything could happen. I can see a shock result or two in this group. I’m going to go for a team that knows what it takes to win a major trophy and that’s Greece.

They were OK in qualifying, although a surprise draw with Moldova cost them a place as group winners, but showed true grit in overcoming Ukraine in the play-offs. They are well organised and defensively solid and I take Greece to Qualify at 2.30 with Expekt.

GROUP E: QUALIFYING BETTNG TIPS

Group E has Netherlands, Denmark, Cameroon and Japan. After Cameroon’s poor showing at AFCON 2010, you would be inclined to suggest that the Dutch and Denmark will qualify.

However, Cameroon have two truly world class players – Samuel Eto’o and ‘keeper Carlos Kameni – and a bunch of very good ones. Denmark really don’t have the same quality.

I’ll take Cameroon to qualify at 2.10 with 888Sports.
