North Korea v Ivory Coast Preview

Sven Goran Eriksson’s Ivory Coast are all but out of the 2010 World Cup but will be looking to go out with pride when they face a North Korea side who were trounced 7-0 by Portugal.

Didier Drogba will start upfront for Ivory Coast, most likely in tandem with Gervinho, who will replace Aruna Dindane in the starting line up.

Midfielder Didier Zokora is among five Ivorian players to be one card away from suspension. The others include Keita, Tiene and Tiote.

North Korea are also out of contention, but will be looking for a better performance before they return home than the one they showed against Portugal.

Coach Kim Jong-hun is set to play a more defensive formation than the one that capitulated so badly last time out.

Ivory Coast manager Sven Goran Eriksson has announced that striker Didier Drogba is fit enough to start against Portugal.

The striker will play in a protective arm cast and is expected to partner Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou upfront.

Former Spurs midfielder Didier Zokora and Barcelona’s Yaya Toure are likely to anchor the midfield, with Arsenal duo Emmanuel Eboue and Kolo Toure also probable starters.

Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz is without Man United’s Nani, who is out for the tournament and also has doubts about the fitness of winger Simao Sabrosa.

Playmaker Pepe has recently overcome a long standing knee injury but it is not certain that he will be risked from the start.

Upfront Liedson is set to be supported by Real Madrid man Cristiano Ronaldo.

Recently appointed Ivory Coast boss Sven Goran Eriksson has announced his provisional Ivory Coast squad for the 2010 World Cup finals. Among the England based players included are Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba of Chelsea and Aruna Dindane, currently on loan at Portsmouth.
