Luis Suarez is suspended for Uruguay, but Robin Van Persie is fit enough to start for the Netherlands in this first semi-final.

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez will be without top scorer Luis Suarez for the match against the Netherlands.

Suarez was suspended after handling the ball on the line in the match against Ghana. The diminutive Sebastian Fernandez is the man most likely to come in to provide some pace against a sluggish Holland defence.

Also rated doubtful for Uruguay is skipper Diego Lugano, while midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro has a broken shoulder and will play no part in this match. Also missing is full back Jorge Fucile.

Bert Van Marwijk, the Holland boss, will be pleased that Robin Van Persie elbow injury isn’t as bad as first feared and the striker is set to start for Holland.

Suspended for the Netherlands are midfielder Nigel De Jong and defender Gregory van der Wiel. Most likely to take their places are Demy de Zeeuw and former Chelsea full back Khalid Boulahrouz.

The Netherlands take on Brazil for the first semi-final place of the 2010 World Cup Finals. Mark_S previews the match.

Arjen Robben is fit for Bert Van Marwijk’s Netherlands side, but forward Elano is still missing for Brazil.

Elano has an ankle injury and will sit this one out. Nilmar is the man who comes in as he did in Brazil’s last match against Chile.

With Santos Ramires suspended, Felipe Melo is the man most likely to come into midfield, although Melo himself has a knock.

Julio Baptista is also someway short of full fitness, but may start on the bench for Dunga’s side.

With Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder both fit and in form, Rafael Van Der Vaart will again be on the bench for Van Marwijk’s Holland.

Despite reacting angrily to being substituted, Robin Van Persie looks most likely to lead the line with Huntelaar having to be satisfied with a place on the bench.

Van Marwijk is unlikely to make any changes from the team that beat Slovakia.

Both managers could shake up their starting line ups ahead of this dead rubber of a match in Group E.

Both Paul Le Guen, the Cameroon coach, and Holland boss Bert van Marwijk could freshen up their teams for tonight’s clash between the two side.

van Marwijk has said that he won’t make any changes from the side that won their opening two matches. However, key players like Nigel De Jong and Robin van Persie are both one booking away from suspension, so it’s doubtful the Netherlands coach will want to risk them in a match of no significance.

If van Marwijk is true to his word, however, this will mean no place for winger Arjen Robben, who is now almost fully fit after a hamstring injury kept him out of the first two games.

Cameroon coach may bring back Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni to his starting line-up in place of Hamido. Also in contention are veteran Rigobert Song, striker Eric Choupo-Moting and midfielder Joel Matip.

Choupo-Moting looks the most likely of the three to start and he will partner Inter striker Samuel Eto’o in attack.

Denmark coach Morten Olsen revealed that striker Tomasson and midfielder Daniel Jensen have been training separately from the rest of the squad and are unlikely to be risked in the match against the Netherlands.

Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk will bring Rafael van der Vart in to replace Robben on the left of midfield.

Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie will lead the line for Holland, as the player has recovered well from long standing injury problems.

The World Cup is still a few months away, but it’s never too early to have a bet on who might emerge as victors at the South Africa World Cup Finals.

We’re holding ourselves up to ridicule by making predictions now, but here’s my suggestions for who might win the World Cup 2010 Finals.

OUTRIGHT WINNER : BETTING TIPS

Spain's David Villa

Spain : I know it’s hardly the most ‘out there’ tip, but Spain are not FIFA’s top ranked football team for nothing.

Just looking at the players that don’t regularly get into the starting line up – people like Pepe Reina, Cesc Fabregas and Fernando Torres – is enough to make you aware of just what strength and depth this side have.

Group H, which consists of Switzerland, Chile and Honduras, is one of the easier groups and Spain should come through that with no problems.

They will then face the runners up of Group G – which could be Portugal or the Ivory Coast. Portugal’s form in qualifying was shocking, while watching the Ivory Coast at AFCON 2010 showed they aren’t as good as team as the individuals who play for them would suggest.

The quarter finals may see Spain face Italy, but at this point injuries and suspensions will be telling and Spain’s squad depth should see them through again.

With talent like Iniesta, Xavi, Villa, Alonso, Casillas…the list goes on and on, it’s hard to see past Spain to win the 2010 World Cup Finals.

BEST ODDS ON SPAIN TO WIN WORLD CUP 2010 : 9/2 at Bet365 – Bet Now And Claim 100% Cash Match Bonus

Tips For Other Challengers

Only the very foolish would rule out cup specialists Italy and, of course, Brazil. Both of these teams know how to win World Cups, but, being frank, I don’t think either have quite the quality they have had in the past.

That didn’t stop Italy at World Cup 2006 of course, so conservative gamblers may want to take Italy at 13/1 with Expekt to win or Brazil at 5/1 with Stan James.

WORLD CUP BETTING TIPS : THE EACH WAY PUNT

I’m very definitely sticking my neck out here, but as an outside bet I do like the look of Holland.

I know all their players are made of papier mache and are likely to break at any moment. I’m also aware that they could run into Spain in the Quarter Finals, but they’ve got an impressive array of classy players and their performances at Euro 2008 suggests a togetherness not previously apparent among this famously fractious team.

At odds of 14/1 at Stan James (and others), this is an each way bet worth having.
